PARMIGIANI FLEURIER Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet

The small yet extraordinary Parmigiani Fleurier has made history in the field of high-tech materials by unveiling its very first timepiece crafted entirely from an avant-garde alloy called Cermet.

Watch enthusiasts are typically familiar with the standard materials most brands rely on: stainless steel, gold, titanium, ceramic — tried-and-true staples of the industry. But then there are more “exotic” materials, where “exotic” refers to how rare or unconventional they are in horology. Cermet belongs in this latter category and made its grand debut at Watches & Wonders 2025, courtesy of Parmigiani Fleurier. And the new Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet is the first watch in the world to be made entirely from this material.

What is Cermet;

Cermet is a high-tech composite material formed through the fusion of ceramic and metal, specifically titanium. Incredibly hard (rated at 1450 Vickers), highly scratch-resistant, and remarkably lightweight, Cermet has previously been used in aerospace and other cutting-edge industrial applications. In watchmaking, it is created through a precise selection of fine powders and is renowned for its uniquely cool tactile sensation on the wrist. The name “Cermet” derives from a blend of CERamic and METal.

Parmigiani Fleurier devoted three years of research and development to perfect this groundbreaking material. A total of 72 components are made from Cermet, ranging from the case, the raised fluted bezel, the crown and pushers, all the way to the clasp of the brand’s new chronograph.

The Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet is available in two refined versions, both measuring 42.5mm in diameter: Milano Blue and London Grey, distinguished by the tone of the sub-dials on the face.

The dial base is coated in Blackor, a proprietary alloy of 9-carat gold and nickel, giving it an elegant gray-black hue that enhances the watch’s refined aesthetics.

Performance at the Highest Level

Inside beats the highly respected automatic Calibre PF070, Parmigiani’s in-house chronograph movement that operates at 5 Hz (36,000 vibrations/hour). It boasts COSC chronometer certification and delivers a power reserve of 65 hours.

The movement’s exceptional finishing — with satin-brushed, skeletonized bridges and a 22-carat rose gold rotor featuring polished and sandblasted decoration — is fully visible through the sapphire crystal caseback.

Each version of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda chronograph is paired with an embossed rubber strap, designed to mimic the texture of woven fabric. The strap color matches the sub-dials, enhancing the elegance and harmony of the overall design.
