After dozens of her appearances in stadium stands cheering for her man on the football field, and just as many of his own appearances at her concerts –packed arenas that she never fails to fill – it was time for the two lovebirds to make things official. Their engagement is now a fact, with the global media dissecting every detail. Because both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are, for Americans and far beyond, something like the royal family of England. Remember the frenzy around William and Kate’s wedding? Something similar is happening here. And we’re still only at the engagement stage! Much has already been said about the enormous diamond Kelce offered his beloved when sealing their romance. It’s a vintage-style ring with a cushion-cut diamond weighing 8 carats! But apart from that, what also stood out on the left wrist of the global music superstar was a diamond-set Cartier watch.
My first impression was that it was the Panthère model, which has made such a strong comeback in recent years. But it wasn’t. It was a Santos. More specifically, a vintage full-gold Santos Demoiselle, which is no longer part of Cartier’s current collection.
This particular model was first released in 2008 and was discontinued in 2022. We could safely say it’s rather rare to find one, especially in the version of 18K yellow gold with diamonds on the bezel. Factory-set diamonds, not added afterwards. From what I could see while browsing major pre-owned watch platforms online, it’s much easier to come across steel models, and occasionally gold ones, but usually without diamonds. Something tells me, though, that even those will soon vanish.
Once this watch was spotted on the wrist of Taylor Swift – the most influential woman in pop music – it’s practically certain it will disappear from the secondary market. How do I know?
