With an 18K rose gold case and rigorously balanced proportions, the B1.618 Flying Tourbillon UltraFino Skeleton Rose Gold Edition, as its full name reads, proves that mechanical complexity can be dynamic, contemporary, and perfectly suited for everyday wear.

Bianchet is a watchmaking house that has become virtually synonymous with the tourbillon, despite not carrying the weight of centuries-old heritage in high horology. Founded in 2017, the brand unveiled its first prototype in 2019 at the now-defunct Baselworld exhibition. Since then, its trajectory has been consistently upward, supported by a loyal following and collectors who often seek not just one but multiple Bianchet timepieces. This commitment comes despite prices that are understandably on the higher side, starting at around CHF 55,000 and reaching just over CHF 100,000. It is worth remembering, however, that Bianchet produces exclusively tourbillon watches—most of them skeletonized—crafted from high-tech materials and designed according to the principles of the Golden Ratio. This October in New York, Bianchet presented one of its most mature and sophisticated creations to date: the Β1.618 Flying Tourbillon UltraFino Skeleton Rose Gold Edition. A gold watch, yes—but one that avoids ostentation, favoring instead design equilibrium, harmonious proportions, and advanced mechanical engineering.

Understated Gold

The choice of material sets the tone from the very first glance. Here the 18K rose gold case highlights the distinctive tonneau architecture of the UltraFino collection, adding depth and warmth to a design previously known primarily through high-tech materials such as titanium, carbon fiber, sapphire crystal, and the brand’s proprietary hybrid gold. In this execution, the rose gold is not glossy or flamboyant. Most surfaces feature a refined satin finish that softens the visual impact and delivers a calmer, more elegant result—an exercise in what could be described as “understated gold.”

The movement

At the heart of the UltraFino Gold Edition lies the in-house automatic Calibre UT01, manufactured from Grade 5 titanium and finished with a black PVD coating. Measuring just 3.85 mm in thickness and weighing approximately 8 grams, the UT01 embodies Bianchet’s philosophy of extreme lightness combined with exceptional strength. Despite its ultra-thin construction, it withstands shocks of up to 5,000 G—a rare achievement for a tourbillon in this category. As the name UltraFino suggests, the movement’s slim profile translates directly to the case, which measures only 8.9 mm in total thickness.

The automatic rotor, crafted from 18K gold and shaped into twelve interlacing Fibonacci spirals, is a signature design element for Bianchet and a direct homage to the Golden Ratio, which lies at the very core of the brand’s identity.

Gold Against Black

The flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock is crafted entirely from titanium, while the main plate and bridges require at least 15 hours of hand-finishing at Bianchet’s Swiss atelier. Anglage, mirror polishing, satin brushing, and sandblasting come together to create a mechanical landscape defined by precision, refinement, and visual balance.

To ensure visual harmony with the rose gold case, the central hour and minute hands are also rose-gold coated. The effect is striking: the golden elements stand out sharply against the deep black of the movement, offering excellent legibility without compromising the watch’s minimalist aesthetic.

A Tourbillon for Everyday Life

With water resistance rated to 50 meters and outstanding shock resistance, the UltraFino Gold Edition is not a watch meant to be locked away in a safe. It is a tourbillon designed to be worn, to move with the wrist, and to accompany everyday life with understated luxury and confidence.

The UltraFino Gold Edition is available in two versions: one with an integrated satin-finished rose gold bracelet that wraps seamlessly around the wrist, offering uninterrupted design continuity; and another paired with a black rubber strap and gold clasp, delivering a more contemporary and effortlessly wearable style.

Harmony, Geometry, and Contemporary Luxury

As part of the UltraFino 2025 collection, the Gold Edition distills Bianchet’s philosophy in its purest form: architectural balance, geometric precision, and a modern interpretation of luxury. It is a watch that demonstrates how, when mechanical intelligence meets clean, disciplined design, the result can be both visually striking and genuinely timeless.
