The fourth and final Grand Slam® of the season concluded yesterday, Sunday, September 7, with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz emerging as the men’s singles champion. The men’s final of the US Open, held before 23,700 spectators at New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium, brought together two of the world’s finest players, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who, beyond being rivals, are also close friends on and off the court. Because while they give nothing less than 100% whenever they face each other, friendship, respect, and mutual admiration always remain intact, regardless of who wins. This was once again evident in the final of the American major, where the two champions squared off yet again.

Proof came in Alcaraz’s words to Sinner after the match: “It’s unbelievable what you are doing throughout the season – I’m seeing you more than my family. It’s great to share the court, locker room and everything with you.” This victory marked the sixth Grand Slam title of his career, and his second at the US Open. The Spaniard also had warm words for the tournament itself: “This tournament is so special for me. It’s a privilege to be part of it; I feel at home, I feel the energy, I feel the love.”

Alcaraz Back on Top
The New York crowd enjoyed a spectacular display of skill between the world’s No. 1 and No. 2, both Rolex Testimonees, as the brand calls its ambassadors. With flawless shot-making, focus, and precision, Alcaraz ultimately prevailed 6–2, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4, in a thrilling contest that lasted 2 hours and 42 minutes. His victory takes him back to the top of the world rankings. Notably, 2025 ends in a “draw” between the two, as both Alcaraz and Sinner have each won two Grand Slam titles this year.

The finalists” watches
They were, what else? Rolex, of course. In fact, both finalists have been consistent with their choices this season: at the previous two Grand Slams, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, they wore the exact same chronographs. Alcaraz sported a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona in yellow gold with a black ceramic bezel and a turquoise lacquer dial. Sinner wore a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona with an Everose gold case and a champagne dial.

Rolex and Tennis: A Lasting Bond
The US Open is the only Grand Slam® tournament to have been held without interruption every year since its inception in 1881. Over this long history, many Rolex Testimonees have stood on the winners’ podium, some of them multiple times: Rod Laver (1962, 1969), Chris Evert (1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1982), Stefan Edberg (1991, 1992), Pat Rafter (1997, 1998), Justine Henin (2003, 2007), Roger Federer (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), Angelique Kerber (2016), Sloane Stephens (2017), Iga Świątek (2022), Carlos Alcaraz (2022, 2025), Coco Gauff (2023), and Jannik Sinner (2024).

Since 1978, Rolex has been synonymous with tennis excellence, timing every moment of drama, precision, and glory on the sport’s biggest stages, among them the four Grand Slam® tournaments: the Australian Open, Roland-Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
